DIEDE

DIEDE is the caps-lock representation of Diede Claesen, a singer-songwriter who flits somewhere between alternative and catchy pop, with a common thread of authentic, deep, solid vocals running through it all. She describes her music as ‘pop with a bite’ and she will take you on a DIY-style journey through her own creative universe. Throw some big bass-driven beats, insane samples, global sounds, and laid-back melodies into a blender and what do you get? DIEDE. Her previous single, ‘HOME’, kicked off a series of singles that will ultimately come together to form an EP. The album will be released in the spring of 2022.

Diede Claesen shot to fame in 2012 as the lead singer of Ape Not Mice. The band charted several hits, was named a Radio 2 Talent, played support for artists like Ed Sheeran and Caro Emerald, and performed at festivals like Zwarte Cross, Paaspop and in venues that include Effenaar, Tivoli, and 013. In May 2015, she made her solo debut as DIEDE with the EP ‘The Lighthouse’.

She was crowned Oerol Talent soon after and recorded new music on Terschelling, playing the festival three times. She also played a full tour during Popronde in 2015. In 2018, she joined forces with the Paradiso and Melkweg production house to stage a multidisciplinary show in Tivoli, De Melkweg, and Paradiso in 2019.

On top of all that, she’s been active as a rapper/performer with Fata Boom since 2017, where she creates tracks and collaborates with Mailmen (Martijn Groeneveld). Her voice even features on the soundtrack for productions like the US film ‘Booksmart’, and the Swedish Netflix series ‘Young Ones’.
